It’s hard to believe that after going through the details of four major amusement parks and more than 25 resort hotels, there would still be things to tell you about Walt Disney World®. But there are! Walt Disney World® also contains the planet’s most amazing water parks, nighttime entertainment complexes, and incredible shopping and dining opportunities outside the parks. Admission to the water parks can be added to your main park pass, or you can purchase admission to them separately.

Disney Springs®

This is where most people go if they still have energy left to burn after the theme parks close. Downtown Disney® is a massive collection of clubs, attractions, theaters, restaurants and shops. The world’s largest Disney store is located here, Cirque du Soleil has a show here that can be seen nowhere else and signature restaurants and nightclubs abound. This truly is the place to be once the parks have closed for the night! Parking and admission into the Downtown Disney® area is free, but there may be separate admission to shows and attractions within.

Typhoon Lagoon®

According to Disney legend, a hurricane carved out a little chunk of beach and dropped it here in Walt Disney World®. Typhoon Lagoon features one of the world’s largest wave pools—so big that people actually sign up for surfing lessons here before normal operating hours! The water slides range from tame to terrifying, and there is even a pool where you can snorkel with real sharks. Sun worshipers will enjoy the large white sand beach.

Blizzard Beach®

According to Disney, this second water park is what was left behind when a major ski Resort melted in the hot Florida sun. Can you think of a better place to escape the heat of a Florida afternoon than a ski Resort? Enjoy a wide range of Alpine-themed water slides and amusements, including one of the highest water slide plunges in all of Florida!

ESPN Wide World Of Sports®

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex® hosts a near-endless list of sporting events, ranging from youth leagues all the way up to the pros. Did you know this is the home field of the Atlanta Braves during their spring training season? Disney has gathered together every imaginable court, field, diamond, and pitch you can imagine. They host an impressive list of national tournaments for just about every sport at just about every level of competition. Check out www.espnwwos.com for the schedule of events while you might be visiting.

Disney's BoardWalk®

Romantically set along the shores of Crescent Lake, this area of Walt Disney World® offers a selection of clubs, restaurants, and shops with a relaxed atmosphere. It feels like old Atlantic City—the perfect place to unwind after the decidedly more hectic pace of the theme parks.

Disney’s Marathons

Running may be the most popular individual sports activity in the world, and Disney offers a series of very popular races and marathons that meet just about every skill level. Details on Disney’s many marathons can be found at www.rundisney.com .

But Wait, There’s Even More...

Honestly, the options you have while staying onsite at the Disney Resort are endless.

If you’re a sports enthusiast, check into Disney’s world class golf courses and tennis courts, or the many sand volleyball courts scattered across the Resort—or the jogging paths that criss-cross the entire property.

Enjoy nature? Disney has nature trails near the Fort Wilderness campground where guests can bike, ride horses, and even take a Segway tour. There are special extended walking tours of the Animal Kingdom’s safari area, and sometimes a special nighttime limited version of the safari.

If it’s fishing that floats your boat, the lakes around Walt Disney World® provide some of the best bass fishing in the country. Dock, shore, and fishing excursions can be arranged through your hotel. Small watercraft can be rented for those who just want to zip around the waterways, and larger boats and pontoons are available if you want to get your whole family out on the water.

Truly, the list of possibilities goes on and on. If you check with your Disney hotel concierge or Disney reservation agent, you will be amazed at some of the options they can recommend for you. Your next Walt Disney World® vacation may turn out to be very different than any other vacation you have ever taken!
